At Coon Rapids - Bayard High School, we aim to provide educational experiences that inform our students on important issues related to their safety, health, and wellbeing. As part of this effort, we are hosting an upcoming presentation focused on human trafficking. The purpose is to make sure our students are aware of this issue and have the knowledge they need to protect themselves and others.
The presentation will take place Tuesday, May 6th, from 8:30 to 10:30 am. in the CR-B Auditorium. It will be led by Stacy Besch, a volunteer with Team Iowa. She will:
● Show Gridshock, a documentary that exposes the realities of human trafficking in Iowa
● Share real-life stories of trafficking cases from around the state
● Discuss the warning signs of human trafficking
● Provide steps to help prevent trafficking and support victims
● Explain the dangers of online exploitation and how traffickers target individuals
Given the sensitive nature of the presentation, we want students and families to know that they can opt out if they do not wish to attend. At the same time, we want to provide this opportunity so that we can help maintain the safety and well-being of our entire school community.
If you have any questions or want to opt out your child from seeing this presentation, please email me at seth.streebin@crbcrusaders.org or call (712) 999-2208.
Thank you for your attention to this important update.
Sincerely,
Mr. Streebin
