To the Parents and Students:
Students must be 14 to get their learner's permit and must have it for 10 days prior to the first day of class.
We are very excited to have this opportunity to work with you and your child. One of our goals at Deluxe Driving Academy is to make sure this is an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone. We have met with the instructors, and they have requested that we address some issues they have dealt with in the past. Classes will be held at the Coon Rapids High School in Coon Rapids, Iowa. We ask that you take a minute, read through these rules, and make sure your child understands them as well. Thank you and we look forward to seeing your son or daughter on April 11th at 9:00 a.m.
1. Please no hats during the classroom and driving times.
2. Always wear some type of shoes other than flip-flops when driving. 3. Turn off cell phones during the classroom and driving times.
4. No alcohol, tobacco, or drug products will be allowed.
5. Please treat the instructors and other students with respect.

The classroom sessions will be held in the Coon Rapids High School. The cost of this class is $395 for in-district students. Any out of district students the cost for this class is $420. In order to hold this class, there will need be a minimum of 15 students signed up, or the class will be cancelled. No students will be allowed to enroll after the class starts for any reason. All students must have their permits 10 days before the class starts or they will not be accepted.
All paperwork for in district students must go through the school and checks are to be written to Coon Rapids School District. All out of district students must go through Deluxe Driving Academy, for payment, made out to Deluxe Driving Academy, and all paperwork must be mailed to our office to the PO Box on this form.
CLASSROOM AND CAR RULES AND REGULATIONS
In order to complete this course each student is required to have thirty (30) hours of classroom and six (6) hours of Behind-the-Wheel instruction. Schedules will be available to sign up for driving times at the classroom sessions, not before. It is important that the student is on time for all drive times, the instructors are paid by the hour, any unexcused absence of a scheduled drive time will result in a $30.00 fee payable before a Certificate is released. Certificates will be filed electronically within seven to ten days after the student’s last class or last drive is completed, whichever is later, but this is not guaranteed. You will receive an email from us with a letter of
completion, this is how you will be notified that your student’s certificate has been filed.
We do work with the Parents and Students and have numerous Instructors that teach Behind-the- Wheel. One of the benefits for Deluxe Driving students is that we allow them to sign up for drive times and do not dictate it. We just ask that when a driving instructor reaches out to your student that they respond in a timely manner to set up their driving times. This may be done weekly or biweekly and is done on a first come first served basis. So, it is important for your student to reply to their driver’s messages or phone calls in a timely manner. We feel this is a strong benefit with all the extracurricular activities students are involved in.
A book will be assigned to the students at the beginning of the first class. Your student will be responsible for this book and must return it to the last class. If books are not returned in the shape that they were given to them or they do not return the book during the last class certificates will not be issued until a fee of $30 is paid or the book is returned. Students should bring a notebook and pencil so they can take notes. Pencils will not be distributed if you forget yours.
Each student must attend every classroom session to receive their Certificate of Completion; this is mandated by the State of Iowa. If for some reason a class is missed the student will have to make up the class at another location or in the next session.
Students are not allowed to miss more than two classes, or they will fail. The
two classes must be made up within 30 days of the last class, unless other arrangements have been made. You may do this at another location, which could be an hour or more away. All homework and/or assignments must also be made up within 30 days of the last class or your student will fail the class unless other arrangements have been made with us.
Due to all the information and drive schedules being handed out and done during the first class, if your student cannot make the first class then please consider not signing your student up for this class and signing them up for a different class that they can attend. Once a student has completed three classes, either two classroom sessions and a driving session and/or two drive sessions and one classroom session, or any combination of three classes, there will be not refund given.
If school is cancelled due to weather all drive times will be cancelled unless the driving instructor reaches out to them. The students need to remember to bring their permit with them when they are scheduled to drive. Once again, we appreciate and value your business.
