Drama Department Presents 'Our Town'

April 20-21

April 04, 2018

Thornton Wilder called the theater “the greatest of all the arts,” and many people have called his Our Town one of the greatest American plays of all time, winning the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1938. 80 years after its premiere on Broadway, Our Town is still performed at least once each night somewhere in the United States, and throughout the world. On Friday, April 20th and Saturday, April 21st at 7:00pm, Coon Rapids-Bayard high School will perform this three-act play about a small town and the everyday lives of its citizens.

What makes Our Town such a wonderful play is its universal themes. Anyone anywhere at anytime can find a true connection to this play and a message about life that applies to themselves.  One of the unique characteristics of production of this play is the bare stage.  Very little scenery and almost no props are used during this production, which takes a moment for the audience to grow accustomed.  However, the lack of ornament on the stage helps create and atmosphere of imagination which allows the audience to superimpose their unique experiences and memories to the play.

Please join the CR-B Drama department and experience the magic of Wilder's Our Town for yourself.  You will not leave disappointed.

Tickets will go on sale in high school office on Monday, April 16th and will also be sold at the door before the performance.
