2019-2020 College Financial Aid

October 04, 2018

It’s hard to believe that the 2019-2020 college financial aid application cycle is already under way!  As of October 1st, both the 2019-20 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Iowa Financial Aid Application became available to students.  Application deadlines for state scholarship/grant programs are available on the Iowa College Aid website.

*** Need help filling out the FAFSA?  Attend one of the workshops listed here: www.icansucceed.org/fafsareadyia

ICAN FAFSA Completion Appointments:  (Schedule online:  www.icansucceed.org/apt) (Schedule by phone:  877-272-4692)

The 2019–20 FAFSA form will be available on Oct. 1, 2018.  Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is the first step toward getting federal aid for college, career school, or graduate school.

-          Ready to File the FAFSA?  Here’s What You’ll Need:  www.icansucceed.org/whattobring

-          Students, parents, and borrowers are required to use and FSA ID, made up of a username and password, to access certain U. S. Dept. of Education websites such as www.fafsa.gov.

Students:  You’ll need an FSA ID in order to electronically sign your FAFSA form and to fill out a Renewal FAFSA form.

Parents:  A dependent student will need to have one of his or her legal parents sign the student’s FAFSA form, so the parent needs an FSA ID as well.

-          To create an FSA ID, go to https://fsaid.ed.gov, and select Create an FSA ID.

-          To manage your FSA ID, go to https://fsaid.ed.gov, and select Manage my FSA ID

-          For ICAN FAFSA completion appointments for dependent students:  Please bring both student and parent Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) information including:  FSA ID username, password, and verified e-mail address.  Feel free to utilize the attached FSA ID form to write down and keep track of FSA IDs.
