CR-B is taking precautions after social media post

January 02, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On January 1st the Coon Rapids Police Department was made aware of social media posts that were threatening in nature and involved the CR-B school. Mr. Frakes and I were notified immediately by the police and both the police and the school administration interviewed the source of the posts.  Following these interviews both the school and the police are confident that the threats of violence, while troubling, are not creditable and that no students or staff members were ever in danger. While the school can not comment on specific student disciplinary action I want to assure you that we are taking this seriously and that disciplinary steps are being taken.  Legal action by law enforcement is also pending.  The fact that the police department will be present when students start back to school on Thursday is only being done as part of their standard operating procedure in cases involving threats.  To read the complete statement by the Coon Rapids Police Department please see the school webpage.

Sincerely Yours,

Mr. Brett Gibbs, Superintendent

Coon Rapids-Bayard CSD is taking precautions after a post on social media.  Please read the press release below.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Superintendent Mr. Gibbs (brett.gibbs@crbcrusaders.org), Principal Mr. Frakes (larry.frakes@crbcrusaders.org), and/or Coon Rapids Police Department (712-999-5244).
