Illness Policy Reminder

December 15, 2017

Attention all Parents and Guardians:

With our PK-12 students all in such close proximity and cold and flu season in full swing, it’s that time of year to review our district illness policy. We ask that children who are ill stay home. Our policy states that your child should be fever free (below 100 degrees without any fever reducing medication such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen) for at least 24 hours before returning to school. Children also need to stay home for a minimum of 12-24 hours following any vomiting or diarrhea episodes, depending on the presence of other symptoms.

Adhering to these policies is especially important due to the fact that our school currently has several students who are immunosuppressed and/or receiving medical treatment which makes them very vulnerable to disease and illness. While good attendance is expected, it is imperative that you do not send your child to school if they are not well.

I would also greatly appreciate it if you would notify me if your child is diagnosed with an infectious disease. This will allow me to notify parents when necessary, so they can make an informed decision in regards to sending their immunosuppressed child to school.

We greatly appreciate your cooperation. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
