Ian Carter Goes On To State Geographic Bee

On January 4th, Ian Carter, son of Deb and Mike Carter, a 7th grade student at CR-B, won first place in the Geographic Bee put on by Mr. Halstead.

Ian Carter has been notified by the National Geographic Society that he is one of the finalists eligible to compete in the 2010 Iowa Geographic Bee. Bees were held in schools with fourth-through eighth-grade students throughout the state to determine each school’s Geographic Bee winner. School-level winners then took a qualifying test, which they submitted to the National Geography Society.
The 2006 Iowa Geographic Bee will be held at Drake University on Friday, April 9th, 2010.
The state winner will represent Iowa in the national finals at the National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The state winner will receive $100 and the trip to Washington, D.C. The national winner will receive a $25,000 college scholarship.
