World Literature is a two semester, college preparatory course for seniors designed to enhance students' critical thinking skills, challenge their reading comprehension, and prepare them for advanced levels of writing in college. The course's content presents ancient world literature integrating the study of literature with writing, speaking/listening activities, vocabulary, and language. All forms of literature from various cultures throughout the world are studied. The study of history and culture are also incorporated into the study to show how it affects the literature of a particular time period and the impact different cultures have had on society today and the role it plays in the life of the student.
Topics Covered: Myths and Folktales, Jason and the Golden Fleece, Animal Farm, Early Egyptian, African, Indian, Arabic, Persian, Chinese, and Japanese Literature
